Design Audition - Facebook Skin Instructions

If you would like to be considered as a Zuplo Facebook Skin designer, we ask that you submit one or more sample designs to us.  We will not use these designs (we require transparencies which we are not asking for), but will simply evaluate them to see if we like your work.

If we like what we see, the next step will be to discuss your fee.  We don't pay a lot, but will compensate you fairly for your time.  Assuming we agree to a fee structure, we'll commission one completed design from you.  If this meets our technical requirements, and if the process of working with you goes smoothly, we'll add you as a Zuplo Designer.

At that point we'll commission additional designs from you and will create a page for you in the "Designers" section of our website.

Preparing Your Sample

Facebook skin designs consist of five elements.  The graphic on the left illustrates these elements.  The graphic on the right illustrates a finished design.

The large orange image is the background.  These should be sized at 1600 x 1280, and should be designed to tile vertically.  They will be centered in the browser window, so please realize that in most monitor resolutions at least some of the left and right sides of this graphic will not appear.  (Note: For your sample submission this doesn't matter, but just so you know, what we will ultimately need for this graphic will be a JPG not to exceed 250k.)

The gray rectangles on the left graphic above represent the working space for the top and bottom sections of the frame.  The peach colored rectangles on the left and right represent the working space for the left and right sides of the frame.  The specifications for these four components follow:

Top: working space is 957 pixels x 95 pixels

Left: working space is 125 pixels x 452 pixels (must be able to tile vertically)

Right: working space is 125 pixels x 452 pixels (must be able to tile vertically)

Bottom: working space is 957 pixels x 144 pixels

  • Note #1: The central white space that the frame needs to surround is 707 pixels x 202 pixels.

  • Note #2: The top of the frame requires the "Zuplo for Facebook" logo - click here to get the logo

  • Note #3: The bottom of the frame requires the "AllPosters" logo - click here to get the logo

  • Note #4: We usually apply a drop shadow to these logos, but this choice is yours.

  • Note #5:  For your sample submission please do not worry about the exact placement of the logos.  The graphics above give you a general approximation of where they go.  Fine tuning of their placement can be done if you are selected to do some actual projects for us.

  • Note #6: As seen in the right hand graphic above, the finished frame design can be significantly smaller than the maximum allowable dimensions.  There is no need at all to fill your design out to the maximum dimensions - we just made these a little big to give you some flexibility if you need it.

  • Note #7:  Just so you know, the four frame graphics will need to be supplied to us as transparent PNG files if you are selected and are doing actual projects for us.
